Built as MkI* and updated to MkI** in 1906 & MkI*** in 1908. Further updates or FTR in 1909 and 1910, all at Enfield. All changes recorded in stampings on the butt socket. Full MkI specification; micrometer adjustable rear sight in elevation and windage, slider with bone inserts. Linked magazine, volley sights, magazine cut off, and unique MkI nose cap. Pristine bore, unblemished walnut woodwork. A very fine early SMLE.
